Bolivia

This Bolivian coffee comes from an indigenous community of 35 families, 90% of whom are women. Transitioning from coca to coffee farming through our “Cocaine for Coffee Project,” the community is regenerating land previously depleted by coca cultivation, with significant progress in just five years.

Apolo, a region in Northern Bolivia, had never commercially grown or exported coffee until partnering with Wildlife Conservation Society and Cafe Kreyol to develop a model for ecological preservation and sustainable income. Cafe Kreyol works with five indigenous communities in Apolo, where the Quechua language predates the Incas.
